Creating Anki cards from your .xgp file is done in two steps:
- Creating a file called blunderbase.apkg file that can be imported into Anki
- Importing the file into Anki
Both steps are described below.
Creating an Import file for Anki
Open the File Explorer, navigate to the folder where you stored your .xgp files an select the files you want to turn into Anki cards.

Do a click with the right mouse key somewhere in the blue marked file area (outside this area you will just clear the file selection). A context menu appears.
Click on “Send To” and then on “Blunder Base”.

A window opens that shows the files that you have selected for creating Anki cards.
Press the “Create Anki Deck” button to start the card creation.

On the left side of the screen the files in the list are marked with a success or a failure icon. If you click on one the file names a pop up window appears with some more information.
On the right side of the screen you can see the number of cards created with a few additional information. The histogram shows the distribution of the equity losses of all positions.

You can also decide to keep only some cards with the highest equity loss and let Blunder Base remove all other cards from the deck by pressing the “Drop Cards” button.

After all dropped cards are deleted simply press the “Close” button.

The folder with the positions now contains a new file ankicards.apkg.
Eventually you may have to scroll up to the top of the file list to see the newly created file.
This is the file you need to import into Anki (see below).

Importing ankicards.apkg into Anki
Start Anki, click on “File” at the top left corner and then click on “Import…”.

On the next screen navigate to the place where ankicards.apkg is stored, click on it and click on “Open”.

The import starts. After the import is finished a final confirmation screen appears.

The imported Anki cards are now in the deck Blunder Base.
Final note: If your Anki Software is connected with the Anki Web network the Sync button at the top of the window has now turned blue. If you press it, it will upload the cards to the Anki Web server so that you can download them on your Smart Phone app by pressing the Sync button in these apps.
